My wife and I worked with MARIO when we bought a condo and then when we sold that condo and bought a house. We had a great experience with him. We have also referred many of our friends to MARIO and they have had great experiences with him. The difference between MARIO and most other brokers is that he is a professional. As someone who came from practicing law, he is sharper and smarter than most. He is successful because in addition to those important qualities, he is more attentive, more sophisticated, and more knowledgeable as well. That knowledge extends not only to the market in general, but also to the particular issues that are most important as you go through the buying and selling process -- what buyers are thinking about as they walk through your home and what you should be thinking about as you walk through potential homes. MARIO is one of those who you want on your side -- and not the other side. He can be a tough negotiator, as he was when we bought our condo (he could have closed the deal at an amount we would be willing to pay, but he went the extra mile and got a better price). He also has excellent instincts about what the folks on the other side are looking for, and whether it's time to make a deal or continue looking for a better one. My view is that the whole point of hiring someone to help you buy or sell a home is to find someone who has the expertise and traits necessary to do it better than you can. I am confident that I could sell or buy a place on my own. I am also very confident that MARIO and can do it far better than me and better than anybody out there.
MARIO and the rest of his team are phenomenal agents. We listed our Lincoln Park condo with him earlier this year and couldn't have been happier. In this horrible down market, he sold it for over 90% of our asking price and within a few months of listing. We did have one snag in the process, though no fault of MARIO. The buyers' inspector uncovered some common element issues for which repairs needed to be approved by our condo board. While waiting for approval, the buyers got impatient and decided to withdraw their offer. MARIO hustled, and I mean HUSTLED, to resurrect the deal. He and his team got repair quotes, worked with the other agent on a strategy to get the buyers back in and talked to the lawyers to make assurances. It worked and within a couple days of killing the sale, the buyers put in the exact same offer, while we were sure they'd come in lower. A few more reasons why we loved MARIO and his team: -His responsiveness is incredible. For someone who is as busy as he is, we always received a response from him within a couple hours (if not sooner) of our call or e-mail. Same thing for any of his team members -Their use of technology keeps you totally in the loop of what's going on. They have some sort of scheduling software so when a showing is scheduled, it automatically sends an e-mail to sellers as well as everyone in the MARIO Greco Group. We knew when showings were happening as soon as they did! -Their follow-up is excellent. After each showing, usually within an hour of the scheduled time, we received an e-mail that informed us of what the buyers were like (helpful to know what kind of people are interested in a given property), any feedback given by the buyer or the buyers' agents, and a general sense of how the showing went. The following day, the agent who showed the property called the buyer's agent for additional feedback, and this was relayed to us immediately. -MARIO knows his stuff . He's probably been in just about every condo building in Lincoln Park and Lakeview and knows those neighborhoods (plus others, I'm sure) inside out. His grasp of the market is really impressive. -MARIO does whatever showings he can himself. Yes, there are times when his team members do a showing, but all the agents we dealt with were as professional as he is. And it's MARIO's policy that he will always be present for any second showings. He was for us. -He's super nice and a superb salesman, but there's no BS. He's totally honest and realistic, which is something you definitely want in an agent. No sugar-coating is really important when setting expectations of how a property shows and what it's worth. I recommend the MARIO Greco Group without any hesitation whatsoever. He and his team are really exceptional.
MARIO and his team are top notch. We interviewed 4 agents before deciding to use his agency. He is the consummate professional and a straight talker. My wife and I went with him as our selling agent b/c he was enthusiastic, had the most knowledge of the chicago neighborhoods and marketplace, and has the most amazing responsiveness of anyone I've dealt with in any professional field. Yes, it was a painful market to try to sell a condo in, but MARIO and his team kept in constant communication, offered sound advice, and ultimately helped get a contract on our place. What set MARIO apart from everyone else was that he always had an agent "show" our apartment, and each of his agents were very knowledgeable and friendly. After each showing, within an hour, and most times within 15minutes, we had email feedback on how the showing went. Periodically, we would get a spreadsheet summarizing the feedback, and also a record of follow-up conversations with prospective buyers. MARIO himself always shows the place for second showings. Overall, I am extremely impressed with his professionalism, knowledge, and prompt and thorough communication. He maximizes all the tools we have in this digital age, but also keeps it real and understands that face to face interactions matter.
